The Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies at Georgetown University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Arabic applied linguistics, starting in August 2007. Secondary specialization may include: Arabic sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, theoretical linguistics, or translation studies. The Candidate is expected to offer undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise doctoral research in relevant fields, advise Arabic majors, and play a leading role in language curriculum development and in directing and coordinating Georgetown’s undergraduate Arabic language program. Candidates should have a PhD in hand and must be actively engaged in research and publication.
